Scarlett Johansson Sings Tom Waits

We're pretty certain that a good portion of the country's male populace has had the phrase 'Pasties and a G-String' run through its collective mind upon hearing the name Scarlett Johansson. For some reason, however, we doubt that those visions feature the actress singing the Tom Waits song of that name -- which may be the best folks can expect, at least for the time being.

Johansson managed to out-croon luminaries like John Stamos and Lucy Lawless earlier this year when she contributed her version of 'Summertime' to 'Unexpected Dreams' -- a collection of covers that (maybe) had the makers of Pro Tools working overtime. Emboldened by some good notice, the Lady Called Red will reportedly try her hand -- and her pipes -- on the considerably more gnarled catalog of Waits, whose voice has been likened to a man "who drank a quart of scotch, smoked a pack of cigarettes and swallowed a pack of razor blades. Late at night. After not sleeping for three days."

Since we have something of a soft spot for Johansson, we wouldn't recommend she mimic that behavior in Method-acting fashion. Although a jockey full of bourbon could make her a very interesting companion.
